In 1963 Poul Kjærholm furnished the City Hall in the Danish town Fredericia. Among the furniture he specially designed a large marble ashtray. The ashtray is 30 x 60 x 60 cm and weighs about 250 kg and is today only made to order.
Later t
hat year, Kjærholm designed a smaller version in granite for individual households due to the original's popularity. Granite being a more enduring material enables the smaller bowl more uses than the larger version.
