Furniture design in a swirl of colors: At the imm cologne designers and manufacturers have dipped deep into pots of color and mixed up any number of great tones. We checked out what worlds of color are competing with each other.

Trade fairs thrive on good products and interesting novelties. Only then will the trade fair be attractive in the long term. At the imm in Cologne in 2012 there was quite a lot waiting to be discovered. The Italian big-hitters were back, but the eye-catching designs were to be found at other booths.

Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie is not only beautiful from the outside. Architect Daniel Schöning and Hamburg design duo Marcel Besau and Eva Marguerre have also designed the interior accordingly and created several items specially for the building.

The Featured Editions at imm cologne, curated by Stylepark together with the trade fair’s team led by Creative Director Dick Spierenburg, offers a marvelous wealth of original ideas.

At this year’s imm cologne the “Featured Editions” exhibition, created in collaboration with Stylepark, formed an integral component of the new “Pure Editions” hall concept used to strengthen the trade fair’s position within the high-end segment, a concept that proved to be an instant success. Ten platforms dotted throughout the hall formed the basis of presentations by selected exhibitors. We documented a number of them on film and in interviews with the creative minds behind them.

“Featured Editions” developed by the imm Cologne in collaboration with Stylepark and premiering at this year’s fair presented a broad spectrum of concepts that were both creative and artistic. The new format saw a positive response from exhibitors and visitors alike – plans for the next installment in 2014 are already in the pipeline.
