Free space in London
He won the Golden Lion in Venice, then he bewitched Paris with his exhibition “Freeing Architecture” at Fondation Cartier. In the summer of 2019, Junya Ishigami will be constructing the Serpentine Pavilion.
A collection of 5 steel chairs with a remarkable magnified optical effect. These pieces are light, harmonious and easy to use; they could be read as a result of the distortion given by the lens in Drop Table.
"Chairs that live in harmony, like a family. Whilst they are all similar, each chair has a slightly different shape, and its own personality. There is a wide chair, a tall chair, a short chair, a normal chair and a stool. It's fun to choose which chair to sit on, depending on the day's mood. It's also fun to decide which is your favourite chair. Like a family sitting around a table, so the chairs are arranged around the table." Junya Ishigami
