Luxurious quality, industrial charm
Living space in large cities is increasingly becoming a precious commodity. And today even premium living no longer necessarily spells a spread of 200 square meters. In cities like Hong Kong or Shanghai top-earning singles live in luxury apartments that are hardly larger than a room in a student dormitory. As a result, there is a growing demand for luxurious yet functional washstand solutions for small bathrooms. At ISH 2019 Alape, who has long enjoyed a reputation as a leading supplier of washbasins and washstands of enameled steel, presented this vanity unit for small bathrooms. It consists of a black steel frame and a white unit of washstand, wash basin and splashback. The three components are made of a single unit and present a harmonious whole – not least of all because the enameled basin hollow was seamlessly fitted into the washstand base of glazed steel.
Alape collaborated with sieger design on the vanity unit which is inspired by the shape of a classic bucket sink, albeit one that has been given a new contemporary look. In particular the splashback on which the wall mounted unit rests recalls the design of old industrial sinks. Beneath the washstand cover “Steel19” has a practical glass shelf that is inserted into the black frame and provides space for towels or bathroom utensils.
“Steel19” is easily fitted because the siphon and wall mounted tap are included and the concealed body is already preassembled behind the rear wall and siphon cladding. This means the vanity unit only needs to be attached to the wall and connected to the angle valves.
Once again Alape stays true to its philosophy of offering premium products that combine the best possible quality with sophisticated design. With “Steel19” the company proves that premium need not have anything to do with size.
