Interieur 08

The Interieur list of participants reads like a Who's Who of the international design scene; there is a strict selection process for participants and the waiting list is long. Many newcomers are initially only allocated space in a marquee, from where, over the years, they can slowly work their way into the main exhibition halls. Those even given the choice can count themselves lucky.

Without a doubt, Kortrijk is at present the most high-profile design event around, and if you are looking for an overview of trends in high-end design, this is the place to be. There are no long distances, and the supporting program and special exhibitions are exciting and high-profile. Every year there is a different guest of honor to whom a special exhibition is devoted. After personalities such as Rolf Fehlbaum, Konstantin Grcic and Alfredo Häberli over the past few years, this time the honor goes to the "enfant terrible" of the design scene, the Spanish shooting star Jaime Hayon. Given that the element of surprise in the enterprising Spaniard's work already seems to be outdated, it is a somewhat surprising decision.

In addition to the guest of honor the jury also selects the "Designer of the Year"; this year it is the young Belgian Stefan Schöning, who is likewise honored with a special exhibition. An extensive supporting program with lectures and discussions, as well as various activities throughout Kortrijk round out the event.

Exterieur 08

Each time the doors of Interieur08 will close at night, those of Exterieur will open! For this third edition, Extremis, initiator of the venue, will once again be working together with the Belgian lighting company Dark and the Futurotextiel exhibition.

Bringing together like-minded people every evening after closing time at Interieur08 at a unique location especially furnished for the occasion. The design professionals now also have a location in Kortrijk where they can meet and enjoy a drink in a unique setting.
