Berlin: Looking ahead

Berlin Urban Tech Summit 2021 – that's the name of the virtual half-day conference that starts today at 2 pm under the motto "The city of the future using the Urban Tech Republic as an example".

Broadcast live from the former Tegel airport site, discussions and presentations will take a look at the smart city of tomorrow and the future of the location. The programme includes presentations on the topics "Innovative building with wood: a new branch of industry", "Urban energy concepts: economic, ecological, social" and "New cities, new spaces, new mobility". There will also be the possibility of a virtual tour of the research and industrial park for urban technologies "Urban Tech Republic", which is to be built on the site of the former Tegel Airport. "With the Urban Tech Republic, a new kind of inner-city network is being created in which future technologies can be researched, developed and produced at the same time," says CEO Dr Philipp Bouteiller of cooperation partner Tegel Projekt GmbH. The event will be hosted by Ramona Pop, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Industry. Participation is free of charge. (am)
