Zestful solar protection

Colt International has created a customized façade louver system for the Fanuc Academy in Neuhausen in South Germany.
5/1/2017
For the north and south façade they chose 19 louvers each by Colt International that follow the flow of the glass façade.

Rounded edges and dynamic shapes, developing a rigid solar protection system for the schooling and training center for factory automation, the Fanuc in Neuhausen auf den Fildern, called for an individual solution: GKK+Architekten chose 19 louvers each by Colt International for the north and south façade that follow the flow of the glass façade and give it a clear structure.

The structure relies on the "Structural C150" aluminum façade system. Harmonious colors and improved cladding resilience is guaranteed by giving the surface an anodized E6C0 coat. The galvanization means the aluminum louvers are exceptionally scratchproof. The part-cladding of the glass façade acts not only as solar protection but delivers natural ventilation and air extraction while also providing noise insulation. Colt International manufactured the louver frames from corrosion-proofed aluminum as well. The individual louvers are fastened to the frames by flexible polycarbonate holders that not only reduces noise from wind, but also smoothly tolerates temperature-driven expansion of the louvers. Another advantage of the flexible mountings is the fact the system can be taken down without any damage, and individual elements replaced as and if required. (am)
