Smart home on the lake

Gira’s HomeServer lets you control the facility technology centrally.
5/8/2017
The architect Hartmut Matzke designed the new build with a projecting upper floor.

A home with a view of nature: Architekturbüro Matzke has realized this dream for a family on Lake Constance. They designed the new build with a projecting upper floor and an extensive glass front affording a panorama view of the nearby lake. Inside, the key technical functions are controlled centrally by the Gira HomeServer: The central Touchpanels (either a Gira Control 19 or a Control 9 Client) can be programmed to run automated sequences or these can be selected manually. The range of functions that can be controlled extends from the lights, the sound system and the dimming system to the fountain spray in the garden. For additional comfort there’s a camera-based intercom at the front door which any one can activate from one of the central panels inside the house.

If required, the Gira HomeServer can handle some of the building functions automatically: Weather sensors tell the server if a storm is brewing and the awning then get furled automatically and the blinds are pulled up to protect them all from damage. In fact, sockets and the LED lighting can be automatically deactivated if the inhabitants are away and then pop back on when they step back into their home. Since the system is also hooked up to the heating system, the temperature can be set individually for each room. And if a technical function should be faulty, this is immediately displayed on the Gira Control Panel. In an emergency, all the functions integrated in the system can be deactivated at the press of a button.
