For the first time the "Featured Editions" take as key theme "Textile" - the installation by Nanimarquina pays homage to the intrinsic beauty of plant fibres.

Picking up the thread

The “Featured Editions” curated by Stylepark for the imm cologne 2017 furniture trade fair center around the key theme, “textiles”. For the very first time, visitors to the fair can choose their favorites.

For the latest edition of the imm the “Featured Editions” will for the first time take as their key theme “textiles”. The special exhibition is taking place for the fifth time, curated by Kölnmesse in collaboration with Stylepark – and features ten podiums in Halls 3.2 and 2.2. It has long since become a key element of the fair, and a real crowd-puller. Exhibitors can submit designs for consideration by the international jury, and the task this year was to translate their own philosophy and approach into an exhibition project, beyond any sales or marketing pitches. The jury then chose the ten best entries to go on show in Cologne.

We can all look forward to many an exciting and diverse idea on “textiles”. The Initiative Textile has teamed up with Raumkontor to devise spaces for a “textile demonstration” through Cologne that will culminate at the podium. Nya Nordiska is collaborating with designer Sebastian Herkner for an installation that will present the potential of laminated “Tex Glass”. And for Thonet, Uli Budde is exploring the “textile properties” of bent steel wire for his new side-table “S18”. The other installations are courtesy of Alias (Designer: Renato Stauffacher, Andrea Sanguineti), Cappellini (Giulio Cappellini), Création Baumann (Benjamin Thut), e15 (Farah Ebrahimi, Philipp Mainzer), Nanimarquina (Nani Marquina), Ton (Studio de Form) and Vitra (Anina Koch).

For the first time, the public will be able to vote, with visitors to the fair being able to choose their personal favorites from among the “Featured Editions”. Anyone casting a vote automatically enters the raffle for subscriptions to our media partners AD, DWELL and FAZ as well as for items of furniture and accessories that the companies participating are kindly making available.
