Paola Lenti: STRAP by Victor Carrasco
For the complex craft technique of traditional enamelling artist Alessandra Malfatti combines metal and glass. In her studio in Padua, she creates the new surfaces for Paola Lenti's "STRAP" side tables entirely by hand. With relatively short burning times of 780 to 850 degrees Celsius, the melting process creates unique transparencies, gloss finishes and gradients. They show large leaves that stand out against the copper background in a radiant grass to jungle green colour. The rims are deliberately not enamelled, as this allows natural oxidation to occur over time, which corresponds with the table surface. Frames made of matt lacquered aluminium are fitted with plastic glides and can be used in both small private and large public spaces. The harmony and regenerative power of nature, which has served as a source of inspiration for the Italian company's designs for about thirty years now, is recognisable both from a distance and in detail.
