King's Cross Station in London: history and the present day come together at this hub of the city, whose walls were once witnesses to industrialisation. Millions of guests use the station every year, which was opened in 1852 by architect Lewis Cubitt and whose brick, steel and iron elements are now listed as historic monuments. Working in this dynamic atmosphere is special in every way. The Fora company rents out private offices, co-working spaces and meeting rooms on the upper floors of the station for this purpose. But how do you create the right conditions for concentrated work in such a turbulent setting? Finnish company Taiga provided the solution for Fora East Side with soundproof, modular office pods that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing: ‘Lohko Box’. Available in different sizes, the compact cabins offer space for undisturbed phone calls, work or confidential meetings.

Made from FSC-certified wood, fitted with a carpet of recyclable nylon and a door with laminated glass, the ‘Lohko Box’ has a homely feel. One- and two-square-metre versions were selected for Fora East Side, which can be flexibly equipped with the "Lohko Table", power sockets, the "Lohko Sofa" or the adjustable "Lohko Stool", for example. Taiga's focus on durability and clarity, on sustainable workplace solutions, promotes concentration and well-being in equal measure.

The workstations are manufactured in Northern Europe: All partner companies have been selected on the basis of their shared approach and values with regard to the environment. For example, the main producer obtains its electricity exclusively from solar parks. The modular Taiga workstationsare flexible and easy to move around, as they can be repaired by replacing individual components. Also, the recently launched Taiga Cycle programme allows flexible reuse of the workspaces; products are evaluated, refreshed, and prepared for new uses in different environments. With its high-quality, flexible space solutions, Taiga enables adaptation to the changing requirements of modern offices – such as the Fora East Side in London's King's Cross Station. (am)
