The twentieth ICFF
von Nancy Jehmlich | May 8, 2008

From May 17 through 20, 2008 the International Contemporary Furniture Fair is being held in the Jacob K Javits Center in New York. In the international design calendar the ICFF plays a minor role, but it takes place in the Big Apple, which is where Europeans particularly like to meet, especially in the sonny month of May. Even the date, relatively shortly after the Milan fair, the leading one in the sector, indicates that this is not about presenting new products and trends. Nonetheless, the ICFF is the largest design-oriented fair in North America and presents more than 640 exhibitors from all over the world.

Alongside an extensive accompanying program at the fair itself, companies such as Boffi, Ingo Maurer, Poltrona Frau etc. extend invitations to their showrooms in the city, museums and galleries stage special exhibitions, with Greenwich, Soho and Tribeca the areas where it all happens.

One highlight is certain to be the opening party from 7 p.m. on May 17 in the Museum of Modern Art. With the current strength of the euro, the trifling sum of US$ 60! for an entrance ticket should not pose too much of a problem.
