STYLEPARK VILLEROY & BOCH
Modern time journey
The Dorothea Hotel Budapest is located in the Danube metropolis of the same name and is exceptional in every respect: the architecture and design studio Lissoni + Partners has combined three historic buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries to create the current ensemble, which is managed by Marriott Bonvoy as part of the exclusive Autograph Collection. The combination of neon renaissance, Art Nouveau and rationalism culminates in a shared inner courtyard, whose roof and surrounding façade have been completely glazed and which serves as a meeting place with a restaurant and bar. Inside, the design of the centuries unfolds like a fan before guests: whether it's the view of hundreds of handmade pyrogranite tiles in deep blue, opulent chandeliers, majestic staircases and colonnades, or historical patterns that impressively reference the numerous folk traditions of the former kingdom.
The interior design forms a harmonious transition to the present, as in the bathrooms: the large, functional basins in a timeless design from the ‘Architectura’ collection by Villeroy & Boch are embedded in continuous terrazzo panels and offer elegant washbasins and generous storage space, whose purist design perfectly underscores the aesthetics of the rooms. This impression is continued by the wall-mounted WCs from the ‘Avento’ series: compact and wall-mounted, they appear light and are equipped with innovative DirectFlush technology for quick cleaning in keeping with contemporary standards. In the catering and event areas of the five-star hotel, the round countertop washbasins from the ‘Collaro’ collection complement the overall look – with a linear design featuring thin wall thicknesses, narrow radii and slim edges, which can be formed thanks to the specially developed TitanCeram material.
The alternation of light and dark elements characterises the guest rooms and bathrooms, as does the elegance of the natural materials: from ceramics to natural stone and wood. The rich variety of the Villeroy & Boch collections showcases sophisticated interior design with high-quality materials: robust ceramics that can withstand the rigours of the hospitality industry and can be selected to perfectly match the individual interior design. Every detail of the Hotel Dorothea is a harmonious homage to Hungary's heyday. The name also refers to one of its key figures – Archduchess of Austria and Palatinessa of Hungary Maria Dorothea of Württemberg (1797–1855), who, as a patron of the arts, significantly supported the further development of the city of Budapest.
