Zeitraum 2023: GEMA

Laura Gämmerler and Pedro Sottomayor have named their creation for Zeitraum "GEMA". The pendant luminaire is available in three sizes and combines several contrasts in its design.

The round to oval lampshades of the new "GEMA" pendant lamps by Laura Gämmerler and Pedro Sottomayor for Zeitraum are minimalist and inspired by the clear aesthetics of Scandinavian design. They are made of a finely ground clay that has been provided with particles in "pale rose", "sand" and "coal" in the course of the Engobe colouring technique. The surface of the luminaires becomes matt during the process of refining the clay and feels rough, warm and natural. It shows another strong inspiration for "GEMA": the manufacturing process of traditional, Portuguese ceramics. It encloses the voluminous, white glass body, which is mouth-blown and gently guides the light into the room. The designers have thought of every detail, which is also shown by the reinforced textile cable, that offers an exciting complement to the luminaire body in terms of colour and material. (am)
