Valuing crafts

On the occasion of Zurich Design Weeks, Okro Gallery is showing the exhibition format "Raw Senses", which is dedicated to the interface of design and craft, questions our relationship to consumption and presents new design approaches in analogue processes.
9/14/2022

On the occasion of the current Zurich Design Weeks, Okro Gallery is showing the exhibition "Raw Senses" from 16 September to 30 September 2022. The exhibits are intended to initiate a discussion about our relationship to mass production, as well as the question of why we separate the fine arts from the applied ones and according to which criteria a redefinition of our material landscapes can contribute to a different understanding of values. The focus is on analogue processes such as one-offs and small series. Over 100 predominantly hitherto unknown positions of national and international designers are juxtaposed in the show. The materiality of the objects is emphasised in each case with a strong focus on texture and haptics, which both underlines their character as individual pieces and provides insight into their production. The designers of the exhibits are both young designers from Switzerland and international designers – including Faye Toogood, Jörg Boner, Céline Gathuler and Alix Arto. The exhibition is curated by Fabio Hendry and Heinz Caflisch.
