Revival vs. Innovation
The grand review: These are the trends and highlights of this year's Milan furniture fair.
The tech wood outdoor collection, designed by Alberto Meda in 2007, has been expanded with important new features.
Ideal for open spaces, terraces and gardens, the products that make up the entire family add solidity and attention to detail to the outdoor landscape.
Tech wood is the evolution of the Setes bench, winner of the competition "A bench for Milan".
The collection consists of chairs, with and without armrests, and tables of different sizes; among them the tech wood folding table, winner of the Compasso d'Oro ADI award in 2011. Made from teak wood slats on a die-cast aluminium frame, the pieces in the teak collection are durable and pleasant to the touch.
The entire collection is enriched with a new finish: heat-treated ash.
This wood after complete drying, undergoes a heat treatment that brings it to a temperature of about 200° and a final humidity of about 5%. After processing, the material takes on a brown colour and excellent dimensional stability which makes it much more versatile and sustainable than teak.
Another important innovation is the revised design of the chair, which widens by 4 cm to meet the comfort requirements of outdoor life. In addition, the new die-cast aluminium armrest makes the chair more elegant and more consistent with the rest of the products that make up the family.
