Anna von Schewen

Born in Stockholm 1965. Von Schewen is educated in Stockholm and Helsinki and graduated from University of Art, Craft and Design in Stockholm -95. She started her career working at Pelikan Design studio in Copenhagen. Since -97, von Schewen runs her own design studio in Stockholm, working with architectural projects, exhibition design, furniture- and product-design for producers such as Cbi, Gärsnäs, Pukeberg, Skruf and others.
Anna von Schewen has gained a reputation for her experimental furniture design, such as the "Latta" easy-chair (Excellent Swedish Design Award 1998), which is included in the permanent collections of Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art in Amsterdam. Many of her interior and house projects, especially the "Villa Kovilan" (built in 1997), has been published in swedish and international magazines.
Von Schewen is a member of "Kropsholder" - a Nordic project group working with experimental furniture design. She has staged a number of noted exhibitions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan.
During the Stockholm Furniture Fair —03 von Schewen presented two new projects. The easychair "Split" for Gärsnäs and the "Interni Stockholm Café —03" designed in collaboration with industrial designer Björn Dahlström.
The chair Hug and easychair Big Hug, designed by Anna von Schewen and produced by Gärsnäs was also shown at the fair. These chairs were awarded Excellent Swedish Design 2002 — Designprize and have been included in the permanent collections of Nationalmuseum Stockholm. The Swedish Elle Magazine, Elle Interiör has nominated "Hug" the best in Swedish Design 2002 for the EDIDA/Elle Decoration International Design Awards. The chair is also selected for the International Design Yearbook 2003.
In Milan, for the Salone del Mobile, works by Anna von Schewen was presented at the Cbi showroom via Montenapoleone ("Latta" lamp and "What’s new" glass vases) and at the Svezia Light-exhibition at Palazzo Isimbardi ("Hug" chair, "Big Hug" easychair and "Split" easychair).
