Architect, urban-designer and landscape architect, co-founder of the practice ARRIOLA&FIOL. Proeminent academic and architectural theorist, she directed the research for her influential book Barcelona Periferia Cubista and she earned Doctor Europaeus from UPC in 2007 with the new book Grids and Diagonals.
A Barcelonian by birth (17th October 1956), she graduated in architecture at ETSAB in 1981. She received a Scholarship from the Generalitat de Catalunya Grant in 1985-87 and William Kinne Fellowship 1986-87. She received her Master of Science in Architecture and Building Design from Columbia University in New York in 1986. She has been pupil of Oriol Bohigas, Manuel de Solà-Morales and Peter Eisenmann. From 1981-1988 she was a leading architect in the Departament de Project Urbans de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona whose Public Spaces between 1981 and 1987 were awarded the Harvard University Prince of Wales Prize in 1990.
From 1993-2002 she was professor in the Departament d’Urbanisme i Ordenació del Territori at ETSAB, in 1997 she was Member of the Jury of the ‘Concours Imperatrice’ Foundation Roi Baudouin à Bruxelles and professor at ILAUD (International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design), Venezia 1998.
