Biography
Ulrika was born in 1980 and grew up in Stockholm. She has studied History of Art, worked in architects' offices, and gone on to further studies at the KV Konstskola school of art in Göteborg, and Design and Interior Architecture at the HDK School of Design and Crafts at Göteborg University. Ulrika works broadly with space, concepts, furniture design and company profiling. She runs her own business as well as the design company Little Red Stuga AB with colleague Kasper Medin. Ulrika is inspired by design that opens your eyes and redefines things or makes them clearer. She thinks it creates inspiration and provides new vision. Craftsmanship is equally important to her - simple and unpretentious with attention to detail. Ulrika's ambition is for all these factors to be the building blocks of her work. The Kalvi lounge chair was designed by Ulrika together with fellow-student Johanna Eliason, especially for Karl Andersson & Söner for 2008. The idea was to make a modern lounge chair that dares to take space. The wedge shape together with its "calf-like" quality makes it a cheeky individual in the range.
