Tola Dolza: Aeva Side Table by Tilla Goldberg and Ippolito Fleitz Group

Aeva, designed by Tilla Goldberg and the Ippolito Fleitz Group, translates classic architectural motifs into a compact piece of furniture. Columns, arcades, and vaults form the design inspiration for this 37.5 × 47-centimeter side table. Curves, volume, and structure define its minimalist form and give it the character of a small architectural structure within the room.

Aeva is manufactured using additive 3D printing from econitWood™, a material made from regional wood scraps and sawdust bound with magnesium and saltwater. The process applies the material layer by layer with precision, eliminating any waste. The manufacturing process is visible on the surface: The interior reveals the raw texture, while the exterior surfaces are sanded, open-pored, and color-accented.

The material was developed over seven years in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich. After use, the piece of furniture can be shredded and reused in the manufacturing process. Aeva thus combines a striking design language with a material-oriented manufacturing process.
