Blēo: Tiles by Muller van Severen

The Tiles by Muller Van Severen tile collection is a sensual exploration of color, materiality, and traditional craftsmanship. Created in collaboration with a manufacturer in Fez, Morocco, the tiles draw on centuries-old techniques: Each one is shaped from local clay, glazed by hand and colored with mineral pigments. The vibrant colors, subtle nuances and characteristic irregularities make each tile unique.

The collection references the tradition of zellige, but reinterprets it with a contemporary, clear design language. The lively surface, slight variations, and characteristic sheen reflect the manual manufacturing process and the design signature of Muller Van Severen.

The series is available in a 10 x 10 cm format and comprises twelve carefully developed colors — from soft and understated to intense and expressive. The tiles are suitable for interior walls, bathrooms, kitchens, and living spaces. They can even be used for pools. However, they are not recommended for outdoor use in frosty conditions. Whether laid over a large area or used to create specific accents, the tiles bring rhythm, warmth, and depth to any room.

Muller Van Severen has also developed a color palette for wall paint to match the tile collection. Both the tile collection and the color palette consist of twelve harmoniously coordinated shades that can be used independently or in combination. The colors are not identical, but are coordinated so that walls and details can be combined to create harmonious overall looks.
