How do traditional craft businesses meet the challenges of the present? What do companies such as the Poschinger glass manufactory, Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten or Jan Kath's carpet manufactory have in common? And what about young talents in arts and crafts? The German edition of the magazine AD Architectural Digest presents the handicraft show "AD House of Crafts" in the former Heeresbäckerei in Berlin from 13 to 15 September 2019. "We want to increase the social relevance of the craft and inspire the next generation of talents. Craftsmanship is a valuable cultural asset which is threatened with extinction," says Oliver Jahn, editor-in-chief of AD.

During the event, visitors will be able to gain insights into the production processes of selected craft companies over 600 square metres. The exhibition is complemented with works by creatives such as Andreas Murkudis, Katja Buchholz and Reuber Henning. The venue itself is also worth seeing: the industrial hall was fitted out by Milan architect Hannes Peer with vintage sculptural panels by design icon Jean Prouvé. (dvb)
