Starting Signal for Trade Fair Season

This autumn, Vienna will once again host the exclusive Architect@Work trade fair format. On 9 and 10 October, colleagues from the field are invited to the Stadthalle to gather information, exchange ideas and be inspired. Find out what there is to discover in our preview.

The successful triad of information, inspiration and networking, which Architect@Work has perfected, is booming: the event in the Wiener Stadthalle is already fully booked on the exhibitor side and promises a wide range of future-oriented products. The trade fair's lecture programme will also once again be packed with intensive input. On the first day, Christoph Falkner from SWAP Architekten, Silvia Forlati from SHARE Architects and the architectural duo Elmar Ludescher and Philip Lutz will speak on architectural topics that are currently occupying the entire industry. Tom Lechner from LP Architektur will start the second afternoon of talks, followed by Zurich architect Wolfgang Rossbauer. Markus Pendlmayr from Einszueins Architekur will conclude the insightful series.

The special show "Lightweight.construction", curated by Hannes Bäuerle from raumProbe, is already well established and offers an exciting insight into the use of composite materials, resource-efficient materials, sandwich materials and honeycomb cores. Designed as a learning and experience world, material samples and exhibits encourage visitors to discover and experiment – and make lightweight construction and its potential tactilely tangible. In keeping with the special show, the Project Wall "Selected by World-Architects.com" will once again provide a stimulating change of pace: Here, a total of 40 selected works by international members of the platform from the fields of lightweight construction, light and simple building will be shown and accompanied by interviews on circular construction. "Sea of Stories" by Studio Quirin Krumbholz opens up an artistic detour. The kinetic installation by the interdisciplinary artist and designer focuses on the ability of magnetoreception, which humans lack in contrast to some bird and shark species.

This programme creates anticipation – and a desire for more. In fact, further Architect@Work editions are scheduled for the autumn, for example in Berlin (6 + 7 November 2024) and Frankfurt (4 + 5 December 2024). The Swiss scene can also look forward to Lausanne hosting the trade fair for the first time on 20 and 21 November 2024.
