Modern-style Bavaria
Both the architecture and the location are exquisite: The Rosewood Munich lies in the center of Munich’s Old Town and embraces two historic buildings: the former State Bank of Bavaria head office and the baroque mansion Palais Neuhaus-Preysing that once served as residence for the counts of Preysing. The interior of the 5-star hotel includes architectural features such as vaulted ceilings and artful frescoes. London’s Tara Bernerd & Partners were brought on board to provide the interior design and handle restoration work, and they added a touch of classic elegance and modern elements to the existing buildings. A particular highlight: the bathrooms of the 74 hotel rooms clad in marble and oak. Here the designers opted for various mixers from the "AXOR Citterio" collections that can be individually combined and lend a further nuance to the hotel’s bespoke feel.
The hotel’s aesthetic concept is perfectly illustrated in the Rosewood Munich’s own bar. For Bar Montez, the planners combined elegant furniture in shades of beige, red, gray, and brown with a dark wooden floor and an anthracite-colored ceiling. For the toilets, they chose mixers from the "AXOR Uno" collection in "Brushed Bronze" which blend harmoniously with the wooden frames of the mirrors and the blue ceramic tiles. Another highlight is the wellness area that includes a swimming pool and spa. Here Tara Bernerd & Partners selected a combination of "AXOR Starck", "AXOR ShowerSolutions" and "AXOR Citterio E" in "Brushed Gold". These fittings create an elegant note in the otherwise understated design of the pool area and contrast pleasantly with the green wall tiles in the showers.
Subdued tones are likewise used in the hotel rooms. The combination of dark wooden floors and beige-colored wooden paneling on the walls together with plush furniture makes for a cozy atmosphere. Tara Bernerd & Partners relied on AXOR’s customization service AXOR Signature for the tailor-made bathroom mixers from the various "AXOR Citterio" collections. Thanks to this special service, almost any AXOR product can be further personalized, customized, and adapted on request, meaning that changes in length, engravings or even completely new designs are possible. In this case, the developed products are characterized by an individual mix of components: for example, the curved spout of the "AXOR Citterio M" collection is combined with the iconic star handles of "AXOR Citterio E" and rosettes from "AXOR Citterio". A special touch is provided by the temperature markings, which are not located on the rosette but in the middle of the mixer handles. The planners largely opted for the "Chrome" version of the "AXOR FinishPlus" surfaces. Selected fittings are installed in "Brushed Gold" and "Brushed Bronze", which creates additional design highlights. In combination with the marble-clad walls and the subtle oak framing of the mirrors this creates a "contemporary take on baroque architecture, combining sympathetic design that melds with the historic elements of the building, to bring a distinctly modern, Bavarian feel," to quote Tara Bernerd & Partners.
