In detail: ‘d2’ by Wagner Living
In 2020, ‘d2’ was introduced for the first time in Munich as a prototype. Since then, Wagner Living has been continuously refining the materials, joining techniques, functions and areas of application. The aim is to create a furnishing system that can serve as a long-term standard for flexible, customisable and resource-efficient interior design concepts.
What is ‘d2’?
‘d2’ is a bespoke furnishing system that not only furnishes rooms but also reimagines them architecturally. Manufactured to exact specifications and supplied and installed by Wagner Living as a complete solution, it creates a space-defining system that unites furniture, zoning and interior design into a single cohesive whole. Thanks to ‘Design in Motion’, rooms become dynamically adaptable and can be customised with minimal effort.
What makes ‘d2’ special?
‘d2’ combines bespoke precision with the efficiency of industrial manufacturing and an elegant aesthetic. It can be seamlessly integrated into existing architecture, with features such as windows, doors, radiators, staircases and furniture all able to be incorporated into the new concept. The system creates a homogeneous space, free from piecemeal effects. ‘d2’ represents a new way of thinking: rather than filling spaces with numerous individual pieces of furniture, they are designed holistically. It enables sustainable, multifunctional spatial concepts that provide orientation, foster a sense of belonging, and strengthen organisations through clear yet adaptable design.
How does ‘d2’ work?
The operating principle is based entirely on a patented interlocking system. All components can be assembled without tools, and the interlocking joints provide structural stability. Adhesives or complex assembly procedures are not required. This makes installation, conversion and reassembly quick, clean and precise, which is ideal for versatile spaces and long-term use.
How flexible is ‘d2’?
Thanks to its modular design, the ‘d2’ is extremely versatile. Individual components can be rearranged, large structures can be transformed into smaller pieces of furniture and entire areas can be adapted to accommodate new working methods. Everything can be dismantled and reused, providing a long-term investment in functionality and design. 'd2' offers virtually limitless possibilities: it can be used as a shelf, room divider, workbench, bar table, seating alcove, bench, display or cladding, or for large-scale room zoning. The system is ideal for intuitive use in offices, retail spaces, hospitality venues, exhibitions and corporate architecture. Even narrow and complex spaces can be utilised to their full potential.

How sustainable is “d2”?
The ‘d2’ system can be dismantled into its individual components and is fully recyclable. The system is transported in space-efficient flat packs, requiring minimal energy and incurring low transportation costs. The aluminium honeycomb panels consist of at least 72 per cent recycled material. Despite incorporating fire protection, the cardboard honeycomb panels are made from up to 100 per cent recycled materials. ‘d2’ requires no tradespeople, joinery work or complex detailed planning. Consequently, the system saves time, resources and costs throughout the entire process. Since 'd2' is integrated directly into the interior design, up to 40 per cent of materials can also be saved. Wagner Living is constantly working to make 'd2' even more sustainable.
What is the planning process like?
‘d2’ can be integrated directly into interior design plans. Wagner Living will then take care of the fine-tuning, CAD design, technical review and quotation preparation. Wagner Living or certified ‘d2’ designers handle ordering, delivery and installation. The manufacturer assumes full responsibility for the warranty, providing planning certainty and quality guarantees. Wagner Living also offers refurbishment and recycling at the end of the product’s life cycle. Thus, Wagner Living’s 'd2' interior design system holistically combines architectural integration, functional furnishing and the consistent use of sustainable materials. The combination of modular logic and precise material processing enables the creation of individual spatial concepts that meet a variety of functional and design requirements.
