Traditionally, the trade fair year begins with the largest international trade fair for home and contract textiles: this year from January 9-12, 2018: As an international platform for textile trends, Heimtextil in Frankfurt/Main offers specialist talks, presentations, competitions, evening events and guided tours by experts.

Under the direction of the British design bureau FranklinTill, international design agencies from all over the world worked together to develop this year's Theme Park.

Inspiration in the Theme Park
Under the title “The future is urban” this year’s “Theme Park” at Heimtextil in Hall 6.0 explores our future living spaces. British design office Franklin/Till has developed four trend topics: “The Flexible Space”, “The Healthy Space”, “The Re-Made Space” and “The Maker Space” and presents the current design, material- and color trends. Naturally, there will also be lectures on the topic “The future is urban”.

Design live
In Hall 4.2, the largest international platform for textile design is showing designs for home and house textiles from 250 exhibitors and 26 countries.
In addition, design studios will present their works using CAD/CAM and ink-jet methods.
 
Trendspot Retail
Inspired by the motto for this year’s Theme Park “The future is urban”, Trendspot Retail is showcasing ideas and visions for retail design of the future. 

Campus
Under the title of “Mobile Home” international universities are devoting themselves to the question of how design can be versatile enough to unite different situations with one another while simultaneously conveying constancy. 

Competitions:

AIT Trendscouting 
Sector trends and material novelties from the categories contract textiles, textile room dividing and sun protection systems, wall cladding, wallpaper and furniture were selected by some 30 architects and interior designers. The prize awarding ceremony will take place during the fair, and there will be a guided tour of the prize-winning exhibitors. 
 
Finest Interior Award
Special individual, professional contract furnishings are distinguished with the “Finest Interior Award:contract”. The prize awarded together with selected brand partners honors the work of interior designers, and interior equippers. There is a focus on the integral, individual planning, equipping and decorating of new properties or those to be refurbished. 

In hall 4.2, the exhibitors at the Expo will be offering customized textile solutions for the individual demands of interior designers, contract planners and hotel outfitters.

Special Interest: 
Sustainability. Mindset. Responsibility Using resources sparingly and observing social standards - in “Green Village” visitors can gain an overview of certifying bodies and awarders of seals. Lectures on the topic of sustainability will also be held. Moreover, this area serves as the starting point for guided “Green Tours” to selected exhibitors at the trade fair, who stand out for their sustainable business concepts. The “Green Directory” is a free guide that lists all the exhibitors who manufacture sustainably.

The presentation is destined to appeal to interior designers, hoteliers and contract planners. A comprehensive accompanying program featuring guided tours, events and lectures will be available.

In Hall 4.2 customized textile solutions supporting the individual ideas of interior designers, contract planners and hotel outfitters are on show. Among other things there will be innovative products in the field of acoustic textiles, modular carpets and wall coverings. Part of the EXPO area is also the lecture zone and café (Salon), an ideal venue for networking and the starting point for the specialized guided tours.

The Interior. Architecture. Hospitality Guide features around 400 suppliers of contract textiles who are all exhibiting at Heimtextil. The guide is available at the fair entrances as a free service to visitors and exhibitors of Heimtextil.

During the lecture program on contract business in Hall 4.2, internationally renowned architects and hotel experts will report on their work.
