A versatile debut
Since 1996, müller möbelfabrikation has been developing versatile metal product lines that can be used in offices, commercial properties and private homes, and has always been a pioneer in this field: when plastic dominated the market, Evelyn Hummel and Wendelin Müller focused on metal in clear forms. Their success confirmed their courage in focusing on craftsmanship and a sense of durable design rather than chasing short-lived trends. Since then, the German manufacturer's range has grown steadily.
For the design of this ultimate in flexibility, the team brought designer Mark Braun on board for the first time: the ‘NEXT’ trolley offers storage space and seating as well as many clever add-ons, such as a sliding shelf or a lockable compartment. This extraordinary container is available in two heights, 57 and 76 centimetres, and can also be customised to suit individual styles in any of the 24 RAL colours. müller möbelfabrikation also goes the extra mile for its customers: like every other piece of furniture in its extensive range, ‘NEXT’ can be finished with a powder coating in the desired colour shade, even pearl and metallic tones are possible. ‘For us, colours are much more than just a design element – they give our furniture character and individuality,’ says Evelyn Hummel. Mark Braun's design is rational and cubic: the form appears compact and timeless from every perspective and can be elegantly combined to form a temporary ensemble, for example at events. The seat is positioned slightly lower than the open, sliding storage surface.
The great expertise in the manual series production of durable, robust furniture also benefited the development of ‘NEXT’: ‘Thanks to the competent support of müller möbelfabrikation in product development, a number of design adjustments were made that made the roll containers even more stable and durable. This required some dimensions and details to be revised – without losing sight of the design, however,’ says Mark Braun. Each piece of furniture is handmade from steel in the company's own factory in Augsburg, a durable material that can be 100 per cent recycled if necessary. "müller has outstanding manufacturing expertise. Above all, however, it is the people behind müller who make the company so special. The direct exchange and decisive decision-making were particularly valuable for our joint project," says the designer.
Durability, stable value and environmental awareness characterise the premium furniture from müller möbelfabrikation, making it a reliable companion that maintains its composure in every situation. ‘NEXT’ by Mark Braun is the unconventional answer to different rooms and requirements where a space-saving all-rounder is needed that can be adapted to any desired style.
