Spring wafts through Munich

It’s the 20th anniversary of Münchner Stoff Frühling. In the jubilee year, 28 international textile makers and publishers will be presenting their latest creations – and the fabrics and spring will themselves be highlighted in a gala dinner complete with fashion show.

When narcissuses and crocuses turn with their tender leaves and buds towards the sun, then the time has come for an event that appeals to all textile lovers: the Münchner Stoff Frühling. This year, the showroom event, which takes place spread across several locations in Munich from March 24-7, celebrates its 20th anniversary and is welcoming internationally active textile manufacturers and publishers to the Bavarian capital. In total, 28 companies will be presenting their latest fabrics and textile concepts, among them Christian Fischbacher, Création Baumann, Dedar, Designers Guild, Jab Anstoetz, Nya Nordiska, Rubelli, Zimmer+Rohde and several others. Newcomers include Italian label Fortuny and Spanish brand Gastón y Daniela.

The program accompanying the Münchner Stoff Frühling is equally tempting: Interior design experts will meet for a discussion at Pinakothek der Moderne. The panelists will be designer Werner Aisslinger, interior expert Markus Hitzinger of Fine Rooms Berlin, artist Jasmin Khezri and architects Thomas Mang and Stefan Mazuritz. The event will be moderated by Barbara Friedrich, former editor in chief of “Architektur&Wohnen” magazine.

The discussion will be followed by a guided tour led by Werner Aisslinger, who will take participants round his “House of Wonders” installation in the paternoster hall at Pinakothek der Moderne – there he seeks to visualize the life and work worlds of tomorrow.

What will undoubtedly be another highlight: the gala dinner marking the event’s 20th anniversary, to be held on the Saturday evening at Palais Lenbach. It will feature not only a dinner and live music, but even a fashion show, for which the attire has been specially created from interior fabrics. The number of seats is limited, so register soon on the Münchner Stoff Frühling Website!

Art Déco at the bedroom: Christian Fischbacher will present new bed linen "Belle Époque".

As in previous year, the showrooms and studios will be served by shuttle busses. On Friday, the showrooms will remain open until 10 p.m. and will woo the crowds with cocktails for the pleasant warming-up event. It bears noting that Kinnasand, Élitis, Sahco and Rubelli will be located at new outlets this time. For further information please turn to the relevant showroom Websites and the Münchner Stoff Frühling homepage.

Entrance is free of charge. However, there will be an entrance ticket with a barcode that gets scanned in when you visit a showroom or event. (mm)
