This new addition to the Pedrali family, named “Stiel” is a collection comprising a stackable chair and armchair, a lounge version as well as a barstool in two different heights. In keeping with its name “Stiel” has a distinct design: the generous oval seat and backrest are attached to the tubular steel frame without any visible screws. Following to the first “Blume” family designed by Sebastian Herkner for Pedrali, the models can be easily combined with one another. “We have retained the proportions and the layout of the tubes but used a different tube to implement them. The result is a family member with a calmer character,” explains Herkner. Thanks to the upholstery made of injected polyurethane foam the “Stiel” range of seating is extremely comfortable and meets high standards in both residential and contract settings. To accommodate individual requirements, versions are available in either powder-coated or chromed steel, and clients can also choose from a range of different fabrics for the upholstery.

As such, “Stiel” has a more pragmatic design than “Blume”, but is in no way inferior to it in terms of sophistication. “You need a balance between uniqueness and a commercial aspect. Essentially it stands for what Pedrali is capable of achieving. Thanks to the harmonious collaboration, we have succeeded in developing an individual piece of furniture with ‘Stiel’ that works perfectly in the contract and hospitality sector,” says Herkner. All Pedrali furniture is produced in the company’s own factories in Italy and much of the work is also carried out by hand. “I think it’s wonderful that Pedrali produces every detail in Italy. As a designer I can develop my creativity much more freely than if the company were dependent on suppliers,” he says. And he adds: “It’s great to be able to develop the idea of the ‘Blume’ and ‘Stiel’ collections further and let them grow steadily.” (am)
