Take your seats!
Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo
Take your seats, Ladies and Gentlemen, take your seats: The three young Italian designers Michele Cazzaniga, Simone Mandelli and Antonio Pagliarulo have placed Pedrali’s “Nemea” at a gidd height, making it the all-star of the trapeze. And no doubt the circus artiste of the “Featured Editions” at the Cologne furniture fair.
What aspects of the nemea chair are acrobatic?
Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo: The Nemea chair seems to extend in a dynamic impetus, in a jump. The sinuous tapered legs with their muscular shape are reminescent of a mythological athlete, whose bone structure is just the aluminum frame of the chair! Moreover the design of the backrest of the armchair, that allows to hang it on the table, prompts the idea of seeing it flying on the trapeze suspended by its own arms!
Where are the lions?
Indeed you are right! Many will remember that Nemea is the name of a town in Corinthia, Greece, also called Eraclea, in honor of Hercules, the hero that here made one of his twelve labours: the defeat of the Nemean lion! In addition to this mythological event, in the ancient town effectively took place the Nemean Games, a series of sporting and acrobatic events, true ancestors of the circus games!
Would you like to outfit an entire circus with the chairs?
Why not? after all the circus always suggests a dreamy atmosphere, with flying imagination and magical lightness. Like in a dream the inanimate forms come to life and seems to us that our own creations are living, and playing as well as we would like always to do!
