Baroque decors from the past, made of romantic roses and perfectly symmetrical leaves, are still growing on needle point works as nature forced in a grid. As a reaction to this idealized representation of nature, Studio Formafantasma is proposing a colle
ction of three rugs inspired by the nineteenth century ornithologist Jan James Audubon. Instead of minuscule and geometrized flowers, three giants birds seems to be for a moment trapped with buttons on the surface of the rugs. The design refers to the
particularity of needle point technique that is used both in tapestry and to embroider clothes. The rugs are composed as out of scale domestic vest and finished with wooden buttons. The designers seems to suggest a new type of romanticism, more wild and
liberating, that expresses one of the most ancient of human desires: to fly towards new and unknown places, maybe just laying down on beautifully embroidered feathers.
