Atelier

Simple idea, sophisticated product: using commercially available metal brackets and a simple construction system, Marco Dessí has created the “Atelier“ wall shelf and coat rack. Slant-cut brackets made from 2 mm steel sheet are combined with melamine or solid wood shelves to form a versatile and simple piece of furniture. Despite being sturdy and large, the brackets have a lightweight, wing-like look when mounted. Clever detailing: the screws are covered by the shelf, an unconventional construction detail that underlines the design’s two-dimensionality.

Made for everyday use with a feel for colour: “Atelier“ is available with two or three shelves in different lengths, which can be individually combined and extended using the metal brackets. Thus you can create a piece of furniture offering sufficient space for books or other items, be it in the lounge, the childrens’ room, the kitchen or the hall. For optimal use as kitchen shelf or coat rack, the laser-cut metal brackets are also available with precut slots for bars. The rear bar offers sufficient space for hooks to keep those kitchen utensils handy, whereas the front bar can be used for coat hangers. But what would a coat rack be without a mirror? Marco Dessí has also considered this question and developed a perfect solution: a small acrylic mirror completes the ensemble and can be simply hung on one of the hooks.
