Tell me what I should be cooking

Kitchens and cars have more in common in the digital age than you might imagine. At the Living Kitchen in Cologne there were strong signs of how kitchens are upgrading digitally, too.
‘Genius Loci’ (from Latin = "spirit of place“) is a wall or island kitchen inspired by the ‘secretaire’ or traditional writing desk that comes with secret drawers.
The drawer has always been of central importance in cooking, especially for those who love cooking and like to have various organized and dedicated spaces for utensils. The different internal arrangements of the new Valcucine drawers allow users to have everything easily to hand. The drawer is available in two versions; the first is angled and projects slightly outward at the bottom, creating a handle and reflecting light in such a way that highlights its tactile material surfaces and hand-crafted elements; the other is more ‘minimalist’ and aligns perfectly flush with the kitchen doors.
This new range of drawers can be customised using a series of different craft techniques (such as inlaid or carved wood or inlaid marble) and a range of finishes such as copper or antiqued brass.
To complement the angled drawers you can re-use the same motif or pattern on special side panels and create a framing element that enhances the entire composition.
The new Valcucine kitchen has been redesigned to feature a slimmer worktop and a lower plinth height that have resulted in roomier base units and at least 15% more interior storage space (you can now store a bottle upright on the bottom shelf, for example).
In order to render the kitchen even more functional Genius Loci is equipped with an Air Logica System, the revolutionary ergonomic back panel that is able to accommodate and conceal, if necessary, kitchen equipment such as the dish drainer, weighing scales, small appliances, power sockets, kitchen roll holder, taps and utensil hooks.
Other than new doors that seamlessly open upwards, this system also innovates in the way it offers the full 80cm depth of the base units for use.
The island version contains a new shelf that is useful both for organising utensils and for lighting the countertop and shelf during the food preparation stages thanks to two internal LED strip lights. Genius Loci is a veritable ‘machine’ for cooking
