The five-piece Vipp lamp series for floor, ceiling, wall and table is the result of more than 75 years of metalwork experience combined with an ambition to rid the world of disposable products and fill it with timeless tools.
The main design driver behind the lamps has been to steer clear of the current trend of fixed light sources, which means your lamp will be outdated as light technology develops. To ensure that Vipp lamps are timeless in aesthetics and function, they are adapted to the fast development in LED light performance with an interchangeable LED light source. “This allows you to continuously update your Vipp lamp to the best light quality, giving you a lamp that you can cherish for years on end”, explains Morten Bo Jensen, Chief Designer at Vipp.
Manifesting a stand for long lasting products, the first series of Vipp lamps is also the last.
“We only make one type of each product, so you will not see a new collection of lamps from Vipp next season. Because once you have captured good light, what else is there to achieve in a lamp?” - Kasper Egelund, CEO at Vipp.
Made from die-casted, powder-coated aluminium with details in stainless steel, the lamps feature analogue details such as adjustable joints for focused lighting and finger screws to ensure proper posture. The metal surface of the lamps is juxtaposed by their semi-organic, rounded shapes and a fabric covered silicone cord, resulting in an expression that is at once industrial and soft. Optimal lighting is achieved by combining a perforated shell with a matte glass lens that subtly hides the interchangeable light source. This allows for a balance between softly diffused light spread across the room and light directed downwards.
