Product description

A wall sculpture with a dynamic frame, this lamp merges functionality with style to offer maximum versatility as a light source. Flip, the new product by Simon Pengelly for Foscarini, is a lamp to admire but also to touch and direct its warm luminosity. It is beautiful when switched on or off.

Resulting from an idea of interactivity, for which the user can decide whether to adjust the brightness, direction and the quality of light with a simple movement, Flip makes it possible to move the diffuser in five different positions for a multitude of effects. Hence several functional requirements can be accommodated: Flip can produce an effect where the luminosity is reflected towards the ceiling, diffusing the light throughout the room like a wall lamp, or lighting a specific limited area downwards.

The shape of the Flip diffuser, made of injection moulded polycarbonate, is curved where the central pins are situated, folding back like a pair of wings to allow the adjustment of the lamp efficiently as well as elegantly.

White in colour with a matt finish featuring a series of cuts, which, almost like a canvas by Lucio Fontana, interrupt the uniformity of the surface to reveal flashes of suffused light and animate the volume. Its size was designed to conceal the light source and achieve an effect of the utmost equilibrium, balanced by the suffused beam of light cast onto the wall on both sides.

Pliability, three-dimensional appeal and movement are the key words, which define Flip, a versatile and multifunctional product. With its simply elegant appeal and strong and discreet personality, it adapts to a multitude of interior décors and is perfect for both domestic settings - for ambient lighting, or over ? a bedside table as a reading light - as well as for contract use, in areas usually lit by wall lights such as corridors, hallways and communal areas. In addition to the version with a halogen light bulb, it is also available in the version with a LED light, providing high energy-efficiency levels and durability, qualities that are possible due to Foscarini’s efforts to achieve the same emotional impact as with a traditional light source.
