Moroso: MANGIAFUOCO by Giorgia Zanellato
Fire as a Creator.
Mangiafuoco, meaning “fire-eater”, is a project by the design duo Zanellato/Bortotto for Moroso. An ordinary copper object is transformed into something extraordinary through the application and high-temperature firing of glass powders. The process creates shimmering, unexpected color gradients, while the copper itself remains untouched.
These effects are especially striking in the two round coffee tables of the series. Their generously enamelled surfaces bear the marks of intentional unpredictability: layers of vitreous powders overlap and react during a carefully timed firing process, resulting in unique plays of color and visual depth.
The outcome is a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces — deliberately imperfect, yet all the more expressive and sensuous. A celebration of color and craftsmanship that turns each table into a vivid, living artwork.
