A subtle materiality, clean lines, and seamless transitions define Martyna’s home in Brilon. Together with Homann Architects, the homeowner designed a bathroom that consistently reflects this design philosophy. The focal point is the Lamurista Hard Rock trowel-finished floor in the color Las Vegas, whose appearance unifies the individual areas into a harmonious whole. To maintain this effect, the shower was designed to blend seamlessly into the room’s layout without any visible breaks: “We wanted a bathroom that looked as if it were cast from a single mold – no grout lines, no breaks. Just pure,” says Martyna, the homeowner, describing the idea behind the design.
The desire for a seamless material appearance also presented specific technical challenges – thin-layer trowel-applied systems are sensitive to moisture ingress, so protecting the floor structure played a key role right from the planning stage. The team sought a drainage solution that would support the architectural clarity of the design while ensuring permanently reliable connections. With the “CeraFrame Liquid” shower channel from Dallmer, the team found the perfect solution to meet these requirements. Since the channel can be completely covered with screed, the floor’s materiality can be extended into the shower with virtually no visible transitions. At the same time, the closed channel contour protects the structure from moisture penetration. This allows the drainage system to be discreetly integrated into the overall design and supports the desired harmony in the layout.
The system is designed to meet the demands of sophisticated bathroom concepts: A sealing collar allows for connection to the composite waterproofing system in accordance with DIN 18534, supplemented by an additional sealing ring to ensure a permanently secure connection. The low installation height also makes this solution ideal for thin-layer constructions, while short drying times and the two-stage trowel aid support precise application. Tradespeople carrying out the work also benefit from these features. “The system is very easy to apply, and we are always happy to recommend it to our customers during consultations,” explains Walecki GmbH from Paderborn. Furthermore, “CeraFrame Liquid” is part of the “DallFlex” system family, which has since been further developed into “CeraFrame Liquid Neo” and “DallFlex 2.0.” Since all of the system’s drainage solutions follow the same installation principle, planning and execution remain consistent across different applications, which simplifies processes on the construction site.
The project in Brilon demonstrates how closely design quality and technical precision are intertwined in seamless bathrooms. A cohesive spatial effect is only achieved permanently when the design, waterproofing, and drainage are coordinated from the very beginning. With “CeraFrame Liquid” from Dallmer, this requirement was consistently met. The result is a bathroom in which materials, construction, and design form a compelling whole.
