Space for ideas
With the advanced development of ‘DallFlex 2.0’, the drainage specialist is responding to current trends in practice: "One issue is that the material thicknesses of tiles and ceramic coverings in the bathroom industry are becoming increasingly thinner. Whereas material thicknesses of 10 to 12 millimetres were originally required, these have now been reduced to just six millimetres. Thin, large formats are being used more and more frequently, primarily for aesthetic and cleaning reasons, to minimise the number of joints. Sustainability also plays a major role: the production of thinner tiles requires less energy, thereby reducing the carbon footprint. And so the thickness of the covering has changed. This is an important point that we have adapted with the relaunch," says Sebastian Kellermann, Head of Product Management and Technical Support at Dallmer.
The design of ‘DallFlex 2.0’ takes these developments into account and offers solutions that are both functional and inspiring. Whether thin-layer levelling compounds, fine ceramics or solid natural stone: the material for the covering can be freely selected depending on the application. Subsequent changes can be made without restriction, even after the drain housing has been installed. This ensures flexibility and design freedom even in the final construction phase.
The factory-assembled mounting unit with integrated positioning aid ensures precise alignment and can be rotated through 180 degrees – an advantage for complex wall connections. The new quick-release system allows effortless height adjustment of the sound-insulated mounting feet, while the mechanical odour trap with magnetic mechanism reliably keeps unpleasant sewer gases at bay – without the need for a water seal. All components are compatible with the shower channels of the ‘DallFlex’ system family and can be combined with over ten design variants. The number of individual parts has also been reduced to make installation even more intuitive. ‘Innovation arises from dialogue with practitioners,’ said Kellermann in the IKZ podcast.
In addition to the new functions, the tried-and-tested strengths remain unchanged: these include the click-in sealing collar for a secure connection to composite seals in accordance with DIN 18534 and the three-sided, tool-free positionable drain connection with ball joint for a tension-free connection to the waste water pipe. Dallmer's ‘DallFlex 2.0’ thus combines maximum functionality with a clear, design-oriented approach. The harmonious interplay of technology and aesthetics opens up new perspectives for architects and planners when designing floor-level showers. At the same time, the relaunch increases the ease of installation of the drainage solution. All round, a system that not only shapes the room, but also the way modern bathroom design is imagined.
