Time to shine

This year, from 25 to 29 October 2022, a total of 40 manufacturers will be represented with their installations and exhibitions on a total of 3,500 square metres in the Design Post Köln on the occasion of Orgatec. Recently on show in the historic halls are vestre, Chatboard and Wagner. Wagner will debut an extraordinary room concept installation by industrial designer Stefan Diez, which will demonstrate the versatility of the sustainable interior construction system "D2". Diez, a pioneer of the circular economy in design, will also receive the "AW Designer of the Year 2022" award and will present a specially curated show of his work in the parking deck of the Design Post. Likewise, two other special exhibitions may be discovered: Firstly, "Rex" by Ineke Hans, which takes as its theme her chair of the same name, which is made of recycled plastic. Together with Circuform, the designer has devised a deposit system for this chair that enables customers to return the furniture to a station after many years of use and have part of the purchase price refunded. The old chairs can then either be repaired or recycled. The company has already set up a number of deposit stations in the Netherlands. On the other hand, architect Hadi Teherani will present his idea of the "H.O.M.E. House 2022". The designer Sebastian Herkner is one of the famous names who will be present at the Designpost – he will be at the Wendelbo showroom in the Designpost on 25 October from 6 to 7 p.m. to present his new products of the cooperation - such as the elegantly curved and upholstered bench "Rest".

Guests can also look forward to an extensive supporting programme with lectures and discussion panels – such as on the topic of materiality and its central role in orienting the furniture and furnishing industry towards a more sustainable future with Ineke Hans (Studio Inekehans), Shawn McKell (Doconomy), Wickie Meier Engström (really) as well as Marius Myking (Snøhetta) and Charlotte von der Lancken (CVDLAB). In addition, the exhibitors will be offering talk sessions, such as Arper's with Roberto Monti, CEO of Arper, architect and designer Peter Kunz and Andrea Mulloni, Arper Head of Sustainability. Kvadrat invites with Wickie Meier Engström, Kvadrat Really Director & Partner, to explore the sustainable vision of Kvadrat Really and to get to know the new product "Textile Tabletop": a robust, circular material for all horizontal applications. It is made from discarded cotton and wool and is completely recyclable. Prostoria will also present Benjamin Hubert's modular sofa system "Sabot" in its completely redesigned space and invite visitors to talk with Sven Jonke, Christoph Katzler and Nikola Radeljković from the Croatian-Austrian design collective Numen / For Use. In view of this diverse agenda, the opening hours of Design Post will be extended for the period of Orgatec. (am)
