The Design Post Cologne is a popular meeting place for the design scene in the Rhine metropolis: Expormim recently opened a permanent exhibition in this space, which will provide room for dialogue and inspiration.

The impressive three-hinged arch hall in Cologne-Deutz offers space for exhibitions, workshops and events, as well as a creative community. Expormim's new presence also gives guests the opportunity to gain an insight into the Spanish manufacturer's corporate philosophy: true to the motto ‘Without longevity, there is no sustainability’, the team is convinced that high-quality design and resource-efficient production are essential for achieving sustainability goals. Designed as an open space for dialogue and inspiration, the Expormim showroom presents works by renowned international designers such as Norm Architects, Oscar Tusquets Blanca, Lievore Altherr Molina and David Lopez Quincoces.

The craftsmanship of Expormim, the warmth of hand-woven rattan and the timeless character of design rooted in the Mediterranean soul can be experienced at Design Post Cologne. This includes the ‘Obi’ seating collection, created for outdoor use by Ludovica + Palomba. The inspiration of the traditional Japanese kimono belt can be found in the backrest of the chairs: a textured, wide premium band that is sewn by hand. The structure, meanwhile, is made of aluminium. This special detail is found throughout the collection like a signature.

Founded in 1960, Expormim is a third-generation family business based in Valencia, Spain. With decades of expertise, the team manufactures durable furniture from hand-woven rattan that brings the Mediterranean lifestyle into every room. Sustainability is the driving force behind the company – the sculptural form of Roberto Lazzeroni's ‘Meridies’ furniture is therefore made from FSC®-certified sapele wood. The matching side tables, which are reminiscent of petals and seeds, are made of textured travertine and ceramic. The process is based on the craftsmanship with which Expormim traditionally processes rattan. Generous upholstered surfaces and semi-circular backrests ensure relaxed seating. In addition, ‘Meridies’ is designed to harmoniously connect indoor and outdoor spaces – perfect for architectural concepts that create flowing transitions. By participating in the collaborative platform of Design Post Cologne, Expormim emphasises the bridge between the future and the past that the company builds with collections that are intended to be lifelong companions.
