Kvadrat's products reflect its commitment to colour, quality and innovation – the company, founded in Denmark in 1968, consistently works to advance the aesthetic, technical and functional properties of textiles. Not least since the acquisition of Verosol in 2019: its founder was the Dutch shipbuilder Cornelis Verolme, who is considered the inventor of metallised fabrics. In fact, he developed them after arriving in New York harbour in 1963 and thinking about the difficulty of regulating the climate inside the metropolis' glass skyscrapers.

Producing High Performance Textiles

The new high-performance textiles, for which Verolme's technology is still used today, are part of this pragmatic and innovative tradition. They promote a healthy and positive living environment, can be integrated into any interior, help to reduce heating and cooling costs and thus save energy. Kvadrat offers various versions with different characteristics in categories such as thermal properties, glare protection, transparency, environment and acoustic properties or design. This means that the optimum shading can be found for every usage scenario, even for large window areas. The reflective attributes of the metallised textiles prevent glare from penetrating; as they are translucent, they do not exclude the outside space.

In addition, Kvadrat is setting new standards for furnishing healthcare architecture with the high-performance textile "Athos" by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec: thanks to the metallisation, the roller blinds can be easily cleaned and disinfected. Even harsh cleaning agents cannot harm the colour and structure of the fabric and therefore meet hospital standards.
