“D.156.3” by Gio Ponti for Molteni&C
3/30/2017

Molteni&C has been producing re-editions of designs by Gio Ponti since 2012. To date, there have been 11 models, including chairs, armchairs, tables, sideboards and a bookshelf. As of this year, Molteni&C holds the exclusive rights to the reproduction of Gio Ponti furniture for a period of two years. And with the “D.156.3” it is now cameoing the light lounge chair that Gio Ponti designed in the 1950s originally for US corporation Altamira. The wooden frame’s slight asymmetries emphasize the interaction of hard and soft shapes. Another special feature is the backrest, where the upholstery is held in place by straps that cross over each other. The “D.156.3” is available with various textile and leather covers. (mm)
