TIBBO modular lounge system

For decades, DEDON’s exceptional expertise in the art of weaving has defined its identity as a specialist in outdoor furniture. With TIBBO, designed by British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, this expertise was extended beyond DEDON fiber for the first time. The result is a collection that translates the brand’s signature craftsmanship and tactile quality to teak: clean, elegant, and true to the material. At the same time, TIBBO marked the beginning of the ongoing collaboration between DEDON and Barber and Osgerby, which has since also given rise to the TRICOT collection.

The starting point for TIBBO was the material itself. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby drew inspiration from the wood’s unique properties: “The beauty of turned wood possesses a tactile quality unlike almost any other material,” the designers explain. “Thanks to its natural oil content, teak feels particularly soft. That’s why we wanted to design furniture that highlights precisely these qualities.” While many pieces of outdoor teak furniture appear “very angular and not very comfortable” in the designers’ eyes, every element of TIBBO was designed with the goal of being “as soft and tactile as possible.”
