Woak: Mies by Gio Tirotto
A modular cabinet collection inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s timeless minimalism.
Mies is the new collection of cabinets designed for Woak by Gio Tirotto. The sideboard and container-side table are inspired by the work of the celebrated architect/designer Mies van de Rohe, incorporating and interpreting his principles of composition and attention to the details of construction. The quintessence of minimalist classicism, Mies is based on the idea of modularity, offering numerous variations in terms of composition and the versatility to adapt to different areas, from the living room to the bedroom, and from residential to public spaces. Clean-lined geometry is balanced by the warmth of wood, in a perfect equilibrium between rationality and material attributes. The collection’s iconic piece is the solid wood magazine holder – with an aluminum-edged rolling shutter closure – inspired by the monumental, abstract, classic and modern Berlin Neue Nationalgalerie; it is a container-compartment with an attached cantilevered plane that serves as both a structural element and a table top.
