"Roopa comes from the word 'Roop' which means shape, form, appearance. And that's why we called it 'Roopa', which is actually an Indian woman's name. Someone who is blessed with beauty. We wanted to create a feeling of lightness, hence this table top that seems to almost float above the ground and columns as legs that look like a deconstructed composition of materials and textures. If you look closely, you can see the reflective glass and then the very matt frame and legs. These are very subtle details in a product that, for me, make it a pleasure to have around," says Nipa Doshi. For their coffee table collection, which they have created for Arper, the designer duo has thus chosen a design that attracts attention with refined details such as rounded edges, angularly placed legs and glossy surfaces. The round and square table tops are made of high-gloss, semi-transparent glass, while the frame made of FSC-certified and European-manufactured MDF in matt provides a pleasant contrast. The colour scheme can be chosen from warm grey, midnight blue, forest green or Jaipur pink. (am)
