Artemide 2021: FLEXIA

The luminaire "Flexia" by Artemide convinces with its poetic appearance, combining innovative lighting technology, integrated acoustic elements and sustainable materials.

For "Flexia", designer Mario Cucinella was inspired by the Japanese paper folding technique. The new Artemide lamp, which can be used as a pendant or wall lamp in five different colors, is reminiscent of an artistic origami crane and convinces with its filigree and poetic appearance. It also features innovative lighting technology, integrated acoustic elements and sustainable materials. The patented Edgelight technology was used, which shows itself in all its glory when "Flexia" is switched on: Then the crane begins to glow due to an LED strip embedded in the frame and seems to float under the ceiling. For this purpose, the LED strip floods the inner surface of transparent acrylic glass and transforms it into an emission surface. The homogeneous light provides optimal visual comfort and meets UGR standards for glare-free VDU work. At the same time, integrated acoustic panels absorb the frequencies of the human voice, making "Flexia" particularly suitable for office spaces, coworking spaces and the home office. The acoustic panels are made of 100 percent PET bottles for the outer fabric and waste materials for the inner part. A rotation mechanism on the wings also allows adjustment from zero to 15 to 30 degrees, which is why the light and sound absorbers can be precisely adjusted to personal needs.
