In the form of large-format colour photographs, drawings and essays in English, "Out of the Woods - Architecture and Interiors Built from Wood" presents more than 30 international examples of modern wood architecture. These provide an informative insight into the concepts and already realised projects of architects such as Branch Studio, Norm Architects or BIG and illustrate the balancing effect of the natural material on the atmosphere of rooms and urban structures. Details of how wood is used as a sustainable building material in the various cultures, definitions of the most important terms such as hardwood, heartwood and softwood, as well as a brief introduction of architects such as Kengo Kuma or Michael Green, who prefer to work with wood, round off the reading. "Working with wood in architecture and design is a way of enriching our environment and improving the quality of life in a simple way," sums up Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm Architects. (am)
