Pedrali 2025: OPALE
‘With this armchair, we have returned to our first love. More than ten years after 'Ester', we have imagined a new model in which elegance and comfort engage in a thoughtful and balanced dialogue,’ says Patrick Jouin. ‘Opale’ is the name given to the latest evolution of the creative designer’s vision since his first collaboration with Pedrali in 2013. The lines of the armchair are soft and inviting, perfect for a long dinner, for example. Elastic straps integrated in the seat and the foam polyurethane backrest and armrests ensure comfort.
At the sides, the legs curve upwards, blending decoratively with the upholstery and protecting it at the same time. Environmental sustainability is a matter of course for Pedrali in its development work, so the wooden legs, available in solid ash wood or walnut, are finished with water-based coatings consisting mainly of plant-derived resins. All components are also mechanically assembled so that they can be easily replaced and recycled if necessary. Patrick Jouin has come up with a special feature for the back of ‘Opale’: he incorporated a concealed handle so that the armchair can be moved elegantly, as is done every day in restaurants. (am)
