Canadian designer Philippe Malouin gives pressed stainless-steel tubes a new function.
1/7/2018

Philippe Malouin, director of the Post Office design studio, has created the “Press Mirror” for the online design shop Umbra. Pressed flat and polished at one end, the cylinder made of stainless steel serves as a hand mirror. Propped up, it also softly reflects the light in the room. With the minimalistic form, seamless transitions and rounded edges, Philippe Malouin, who previously worked for Tom Dixon among others, gives the mirror a sculptural character and also clearly highlights the manufacturing process. Since the pressed steel tubes all have a structure of their own, each mirror is a one-off. (am)
