Shopping in the Intermediate World

David Chipperfield Architects have designed a minimalist flagship store for the fashion platform Ssense in Montreal, Canada.
5/2/2018

"Ssense Montréal" is the name of the new flagship store of the international fashion platform Ssense, which was recently opened. David Chipperfield Architects designed the concept store in the old town of Montreal. A concrete construction was implanted in the five-storey building from the 19th century, whose brutalist charm offers a fascinating contrast to the historical façade. The concept is a model for Ssense: it is intended to serve as an interface between online and offline shopping. Products selected online are delivered to the store within one hour and can thus be included in the consultation with a personal stylist. For changing projects, the grid system of the floor plan was flexibly set up on 13,000 square metres: The partition walls can be extended and reduced as required. A vertical lift is also to ensure smooth deliveries. The Store also offers a café. (am)
